Pierre-Marie Coty

Pierre-Marie Coty (born November 22, 1927 in Anyama , † July 17, 2020 in Abidjan ) was an Ivorian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Daloa .

Life

After his theological training, Pierre-Marie Coty was ordained a priest on July 19, 1955 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Daloa on November 20, 1975. The Archbishop of Abidjan , Bernard Yago , donated him episcopal ordination on January 4th of the following year ; Co - consecrators were Pierre-Eugène Rouanet SMA , Bishop Emeritus of Daloa, and Eugène Abissa Kwaku , Bishop of Abengourou . On March 22, 2005, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

The text for the national anthem “l'Abidjanaise” of Côte d'Ivoire was written by Pierre-Marie Coty, the musical composition by the Catholic prelate Pierre-Michel Pango . In 2013, Coty was awarded the National Order of Merit for this.
