societies
De Wit was active for SC Köln Weiler Volkhoven until he was twelve and then joined the youth department of Bayer 04 Leverkusen , whose player he was - beyond the youth - until 2007. He was part of the Bundesliga team in the 2006/07 season and made four appearances, for the first time on November 8, 2006 (11th matchday) in the 3-1 win in the away game against VfL Bochum , when he was in the 90th minute was substituted on for Tranquillo Barnetta . De Wit played once internationally: on November 23, 2006, his team lost 1-0 in the group stage of the UEFA Cup at the BayArena Tottenham Hotspur .
Two seasons followed at the second division club VfL Osnabrück . In his first season - initially on loan - a cruciate ligament tear suffered on August 17, 2007 (2nd matchday) in the league game against SV Wehen Wiesbaden forced him to fail for a long time : 3 home defeat against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim came to an end. On March 31, 2008 (26th matchday) he scored his first professional goal with the goal to make it 2-0 in the home game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern . In the following season after extension of the loan deal, De Wit became a regular player; he played 33 of 34 league games for VfL Osnabrück, but was seriously injured again in the last game of the season on May 24, 2009 in the 1: 4 defeat against MSV Duisburg . A tear in the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee put him out of action for several months.
He returned to Bayer 04 Leverkusen for the 2009/10 season , but was unable to play due to the torn cruciate ligament. For the second half of the 2009/10 season , the recovered De Wit moved to the second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern , where he signed a contract dated until June 2012. A cruciate ligament tear repeatedly suffered on February 1, 2010 (20th match day) in the 3-0 away win against Alemannia Aachen made him sideline for the rest of the season. At the end of the second half of the season, in which he was only used three times, Kaiserslautern was confirmed as champion and promoted team and with it De Wit's return to the Bundesliga . In the 2010/11 season he was only used regularly in the second half of the season without having a regular place. On October 30, 2011 (11th matchday) he scored his first Bundesliga goal in the away game against Hamburger SV with the goal to make it 1-0 (final score 1: 1).
In the 2013 summer break, MSV Duisburg signed De Wit. He received a contract until 2016 with an option for another season. Then he first took a permanent place before he had to fight injury problems again. That is why he missed larger parts of the 2014/15 season, at the end of which the MSV was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga.
After relegation to the 3rd division, he left Duisburg in the summer of 2016.
National team
In May 2008 he was called up for the first time in the squad of the U-21 national team, but was not used due to an injury.
