Pierre Perron

Pierre Perron (born March 14, 1959 ) is a Canadian economist who has particularly distinguished himself in the field of econometrics .

Career, research and teaching

Perron studied from 1978 to 1982 economics first at the McGill University in Montreal , at 1981 as a Bachelor of Arts graduate, and then the Queen's University in Kingston , he with a degree of Master of Arts in the direction of Yale University left. There he did his Ph.D. with Peter CB Phillips until 1986. In his thesis, he developed a statistical test known as the Phillips-Perron test for stochastic processes with a unit root .

Perron was already working as a lecturer at the University of Montreal from 1985 , after completing his studies in the following year he took on the duties of an assistant professor . In 1988 he moved to Princeton University before returning to Montreal University as an Associate Professor in 1992 . There he was appointed full professor in 1994 . In 1997 he followed a call from Boston University . He also visitierte among other several times at the Catholic Pontifical University of Rio de Janeiro , the University of São Paulo and at the in Dijon settled University of Burgundy , the University of Lausanne and the Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques in Paris. Between 2003 and 2013 Perron was co-editor of the Econometrics Journal . He is a member of the Econometric Society , the Canadian Economics Association , whose executive committee he sat from 1995 to 1997, the American Economic Association and the American Finance Association .

Perron's work focuses on econometrics and statistical methods in time series analysis with a focus on structural breaks. In recent years he has focused more and more on the practical application with a view to analyzing all aspects of climate change .
