Pierre Rebut
Pierre Rebut (* 1827 ; † 1898 ) was a French cactus gardener. Its botanical author abbreviation is " Rebut ".
Live and act
Pierre Rebut was a winemaker who turned to growing and propagating cacti . His cactus nursery in Chazay-d'Azergues near Lyon was known beyond the country's borders.
In 1891 he received the first specimens of a new type of cactus from Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber in Paris, which Karl Moritz Schumann described in 1895 as Rebutia minuscula .
Dedication names
Karl Moritz Schumann named the genus Rebutia of the cactus family (Cactaceae) in his honor .
Furthermore, the epithets of
- × Gasteraloe rebutii (= Aloe variegata × Gasteria sp.) And
- Lobivia rebutioides ( synonym for Echinopsis densispina )
was named after him.
