Pierre Wijnants

Pierre Wijnants MSC (born February 8, 1914 in Borlo , Belgium , † August 22, 1978 ) was a Belgian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Mbandaka-Bikoro .

Life

Pierre Wijnants joined the Congregation of the Sacred Heart Missionaries at and received on 6 August 1939, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On April 21, 1964, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Archbishop of Coquilhatville (later Mbandaka-Bikoro). The Archbishop Emeritus of Coquilhatville, Hilaire Marie Vermeiren MSC, donated him episcopal ordination on June 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Ikela , Josef Weigl MSC, and the Bishop of Bikoro , Camille Jean-Baptiste Vandekerckhove CM .

Wijnants attended the fourth session of the Second Vatican Council . On November 11, 1977, Paul VI. the resignation put forward by Pierre Wijnants.
