Pietro Vidoni

Pietro Vidoni (iuniore) (born September 2, 1759 in Cremona , † August 10, 1830 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

Vidoni began his training in 1766 at the Collegio San Carlo in Modena and moved to the Collegio Nazareno in Rome in 1771 . After attending the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy from 1778 and studying theology and law there, he became Pope Pius VI's chamberlain . who appointed him on July 19, 1781 as a trainee lawyer in the Apostolic Signature and appointed him papal house prelate . Apostolic protonotary since 1784 , he was vice-delegate in Ferrara from 1785 to 1790 and from 1790 relator of the Sacra Consulta . From 1800 as Apostolic Delegate for Ancona, he also became a delegate for Urbino and Pesaro in 1806. He lost both offices with the capture of the Papal States by the French troops in 1808, after which he returned to Rome in 1809. In 1809 he went to Cremiona, where he stayed until 1814 when he returned to Rome with Pope Pius VII .

Created cardinal on March 8, 1816, the Pope appointed him cardinal deacon of San Nicola in Carcere on April 29, 1816 . After taking part in the conclave in 1823 and in the conclave in 1829 , he died in August 1830 after a ten-day fever and was buried on August 14, 1830 in the church of Sant'Andrea della Valle .
