history

Finds prove a prehistoric settlement. The Romans also left their mark. The first references to the place Antelas can be found in official documents since the 10th century AD, but it is no longer listed as a separate municipality in the surveys of 1258 . Since then it has probably belonged to the municipality of Pinheiro, which is recorded as a separate municipality for the first time since those registers. The formerly common form of the name Pinheiro de Lafões is known to this day. To delimit other places , also called Pinheiro , it was given the addition, which refers to the Lafões district at that time , which was dissolved in 1834. Since then, Pinheiro has been part of the Oliveira de Frades district, a district that was newly created when Lafões was dissolved.
