Pino Cacucci (* 1955 in Alessandria ) is a versatile Italian author who works as a journalist, novelist, screenwriter and translator and has written several thrillers, historical novels, novel biographies, short stories and travel books about Mexico and South America.

biography

Cacucci grew up in Chiavari . In 1975 he moved to Bologna and enrolled in the DAMS faculty ( D iscipline delle A rti, della M usica e dello S pettacolo , disciplines of art, music and spectacle) at the university there. At the beginning of the 1980s he lived partly in Paris and partly in Barcelona for a long time . He undertook extensive trips to Latin America, especially to Mexico, where he also settled for a long time.

In addition to his own writing activities, Cacucci also works as a translator into Italian for several Spanish and Latin American authors such as Javier Cercas , Francisco Coloane , José Manuel Fajardo , Santiago Gamboa , Manuel Rivas and Paco Ignacio Taibo II . Some of his books are now also available in German.

His novel Puerto Escondido was made into a film by Gabriele Salvatores in 1992 . In 1995 a film adaptation of his novel San Isidro Futbòl was made under the title Viva San Isidro, directed by Alessandro Cappelletti .

Awards

Cacucci's novel Demasiado corazón was awarded the Premio Giorgio Scerbanenco for the best Italian detective novel of the year at the Noir In Festival in Courmayeur in 1999.
