In piranha chur is a Swiss women's floorball club from Chur . The first team of the Grisons plays in the national league A and is five-time Swiss champions. With over 100 licensed players, the club is one of the leading clubs in Swiss women's floorball.

history

The association "piranha chur" was created in 1998 from a merger between the floorball section of the BTV Chur and Civitas Chur , with the aim of bundling forces in the region. The all-girls and women’s association has since established itself in Switzerland and internationally.

In 2010, the first championship title after the merger was celebrated, after which the team took part in the EuroFloorball Cup (now the Champions Cup ) for the first time. In the fight for the European championship title, the Graubünden women only had to admit defeat 5: 4 in the final against the Swedish champions IKSU Innebandy . With the runner-up title at the first participation, a clear sign could be set that the Graubünden women can also keep up in international comparison.

After the runner-up title in the 2010/2011 season, the championship title was brought back to Chur in the following season . In the 2012/2013 season, in addition to defending the championship title, the cup was also won. A year after the so-called double, the cup final was lost to Zug United , but the championship cup remained in the hands of the Grisons. In 2015 piranha chur was able to contest the first superfinal in Swiss floorball history against UHC Dietlikon . In the Kolping Arena in Kloten , the Chur women were able to secure the fourth championship title in a row in front of 6375 spectators. The game was broadcast live on SRF Zwei.

Mirco Torri's team was also able to lift the trophy in the second edition of the superfinal in 2016. In the final, the Chur women met the UHC Dietlikon again. After a 1–3 deficit, the women managed to turn it sensationally and move into overtime. After twenty goalless minutes, the penalty shootout had to decide. Of 16 attempts, only the Finn Luomaniemi met. With the hit, the Chur women achieved their fifth championship in a row.

A year later, the same teams faced each other again in the third superfinal. This time the UHC Dietlikon won the game 7-2. Two of the goals fell into the empty goal in the end. This broke the series of five championship titles of the Chur women.

After a season without a title, piranha was able to celebrate the triple of Supercup, championship and the Swiss Cup in the 2017/18 season under the resigning coach Mirco Torri.

Goal celebration by piranha chur at the Champions Cup 2019 against IKSU

In the 2018/2019 season, UHC Dietlikon was again met in the cup final and super final. In the cup final they led 2-0 after the first third, but that wasn't enough, and Dietlikon equalized and finally won 4-2. They wanted to do better at the superfinal. After a 0: 1 deficit after the first third, piranha turned it up and led 3: 1 after the second third. After the 4: 1 fell at the beginning of the third third, it was actually clear that piranha would win this superfinal. Unfortunately, things turned out differently and Dietlikon turned the game dramatically in just under ten minutes and forced extra time. In the 9th minute of extra time the goal fell in favor of Dietlikon, who won the final 5: 4.
