Ram lives with his family, consisting of parents, two brothers, a sister-in-law, three uncles and two aunts, in a small apartment in the metropolis of Bombay . Malti, on the other hand, lives with her family in a comfortable house in a small village.
Their paths lead together when their parents arrange a matchmaker / matchmaker. In fact, Ram and Malti fall in love and their love soon results in a wedding. Traditionally Malti moves into her husband's house, not knowing what to expect there.
There is no space in Malti's one-room apartment and the newlyweds are forced to sleep in the kitchen. In such a confined space, privacy is out of the question. Soon Malti can't stand it anymore, so her father brings her back to the village.
It is only when Ram's family agrees to move out of the apartment that they change their minds. Now Ram and Malti enjoy the long-awaited togetherness.
