The Pizzo la Scheggia is a 2466 m slm high mountain peak in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region of Piedmont . It is the highest point in the Vigezzo Valley .
He belongs to the onsernone group of the Ticino Alps within the Lepontine Alps . The summit lies on a ridge that starts from Pizzo di Madéi on the border with Switzerland , between Pizzo Locciabella ( 2338 m slm ) in the southwest and Cima dei Campelli ( 2446 m slm ) in the northeast. A notch with two small rock windows separates the summit from the slightly lower Cima dei Campelli . It lies between the Valle Isorno in the municipality of Montecrestese to the west and the Valle Vigezzo in the municipality of Santa Maria Maggiore to the east.
A hiking trail leads from the Rifugio Regi ( 1888 m slm ) of the Club Alpino Italiano at the source of the Melezzo orientale over the Alpe Forno to the Pizzo la Scheggia. A popular starting point is the alpine settlement of Cortino via the Arvogno fraction above the village of Toceno .
