Planet Zoo is a zoo building strategy game developed and published by Frontier Developments for Windows . The game was released on November 5, 2019.

Gameplay

Planet Zoo is a spiritual successor to Zoo Tycoon with a gameplay similar to the previous title of Frontier Developments Planet Coaster . The aim of the game is to build and manage a zoo with a high level of visitor and animal satisfaction. More than 50 animal species are available for this. The animals that are controlled by artificial intelligence behave similarly to their real role models. Each species has its own needs and requirements, such as the size and equipment of the enclosure, that the players must meet. The game also has a breeding system: each individual has their own genome , which includes values for life expectancy, size, health and fertility. Successful breeding can be achieved through skillful pairing.

The game contains four modes: In career mode, the player fulfills tasks in 12 scenarios as part of a story . These lead to fictional zoos that have already been built in various places around the world. In franchise mode, the player builds his own zoo from scratch. There are online functions such as an animal market where animals can be traded with other players. The challenge mode is the offline version of the franchise mode. In the sandbox mode, the player has unlimited financial resources and can build freely. Own buildings can be shared with the community via the Steam Workshop .
