Place ban

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A court ban is usually a fine against clubs, especially in football .

principle

The club concerned is prohibited from playing official games on its own pitch. The suspension is issued as a particularly severe administrative penalty by the respective association if the club concerned has not been able to adequately ensure the safety of the referee and visiting team in particular. For example, a court ban can be imposed if the player or referee are hit by objects thrown onto the court from the spectator stands.

The club against which this penalty was pronounced must play one or more home games in a neutral place and possibly in camera (similar to a ghost game ). As a result of the generally lower or, in combination with a ghost game, completely missing viewer income as well as additional travel costs, the club can suffer high financial damage. In addition, the often important home advantage is lost.

Examples

Manchester United has been suspended twice in its history: in 1971, the club had to play a home league game against Arsenal on Liverpool's Anfield Road after fans threw a knife on the pitch at Old Trafford . In 1977 United played its European Cup quarter-final second leg at Home Park in Plymouth after rioting by its fans in the first leg in Saint-Étienne , which was given the honor of having hosted a European Cup game without ever having played a first division home game.

1986 gave UEFA the 1. FC Cologne a square lock for his UEFA Cup -Finalrückspiel against Real Madrid . The reason was riots by Cologne fans at the semi-final second leg against KSV Waregem in Kortrijk . The game was ultimately played in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

On November 19, 1988 Christian Hochstätter from Gladbach was hit in the head by a lighter during the match in Karlsruhe and had to be replaced. The 3: 1 of KSC was canceled, the repetition ended on February 23, 1989 2: 2. KSC had to play the home game against Hannover 96 on February 18, 1989 in Heilbronn's Frankenstadion .

Shortly before the end of the same season in the 2nd Bundesliga, an identical penalty was pronounced against FC Schalke 04 . The reason for this was a kick by a fan against referee Michael Prengel during a storm at the game Schalke 04 against SV Darmstadt 98 . After the DFB rejected Lüdenscheid as the venue, Schalke played their home game on May 23, 1989 against Fortuna Cologne in the Lower Saxony Stadium in Hanover. Back then, sponsor Müller-Milch provided coaches for the Schalke supporters free of charge.

In 1991, Ajax Amsterdam received a three-game suspension from UEFA after an iron bar hit Austria goalkeeper Franz Wohlfahrt in the De Meer Stadium in the game against FK Austria Wien . For the first three home games in the 1991/92 UEFA Cup, Ajax dodged across the national border to the Düsseldorf Rheinstadion , which led to the bizarre fact that the Dutch played their home game against FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in Germany.

Due to fan riots at the home game of Bundesliga promoted Hansa Rostock against FC St. Pauli in September 1995, the DFB suspended the Ostseestädter. Hansa was not allowed to play the home game on October 28, 1995 against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Ostseestadion and therefore avoided the Berlin Olympic Stadium . In the history of the Rostock club, however, this punishment turned out to be a high point. In Berlin, 58,492 spectators flocked to the "home game" of the kicker from Mecklenburg. To this day, this represents the audience record for Hansa.

The Turkish national football team was founded in 2006 as a result of incidents at the soccer match Turkey - Switzerland in 2005 with a court ban of six games (some of them also as a ghost game) and occupies a fine.

In Brazil, Coritiba FC were suspended for 30 games and a fine of the equivalent of 240,000 euros was imposed after serious riots broke out in the championship game on December 6, 2009 against Fluminense Rio de Janeiro .

As a result of the cup throwing at the game FC St. Pauli against Schalke 04 in the 2010/2011 season , the DFB sentenced Hamburg to a game suspension. However, in order to prevent distortion of competition in the relegation battle, the association agreed to postpone the penalty until the coming season. After relegation from the Bundesliga, St. Pauli played its first second division home game against FC Ingolstadt 04 on July 16, 2011 in Lübeck in July 2011 .
