content

The film shows historical recordings of artistic performances by a group of trans women in Argentina and their dealings with death from AIDS. La Delpi , the only survivor, uses voiceover to bring the VHS recordings shown to the audience.

At the end of the 1980s, the Argentine city of Cordoba was Catholic, conservative and shaped by military dictatorship. One day the Trans women and learn drag queens La Delpi , La Gallega and La Colo know at an early age in the bus. They found the artistic group Kalas and perform in the basement bar La Piaf wearing make-up and improvised costumes . The self-designed shows with playback and the fashion shows with award ceremonies give the group support in the fight against AIDS and police violence and strengthen the community.

As of 1991, the profit from ticket sales goes to the hospital, because AIDS is increasing. One evening La Porchis doesn't come to La Piaf ; When asked why she did not attend, it was said that she was not feeling well. That night La Gallega is on stage for the last time. Although there has been a drug against AIDS in Buenos Aires since 1996 , not in Córdoba. The drag queen was only 25 years old. In order to create a counterbalance to the great sadness that now prevails, the idea of a re-enactment emerges with which a happy ending for the life of the dead is found. So Mario, the former lover of La Gallega , who had left her to her great sorrow, now comes to La PIaf in a staged scene and kisses La Gallega . In all so staged and imagined versions, in which the dead La Gallega is played by other people, she sings at the end. These self-made, idiosyncratic mourning rituals give comfort and create community.

The drag queen scene is fragmented and scattered to the wind. But La Colo still gives La Delpi support and hope with the happy endings. A few weeks before the end of the film shoot, she too dies, as La Delpi says, because she was tired of life. The previously unknown recordings are not only a farewell letter, but also a document of friendship.
