Plinthus is a genus of plants fromthe afternoon flower family (Aizoaceae). The origin ofthe genus botanical name and its meaning are unclear.

The species of the genus Plinthus grow as low shrubs with more or less upright to prostrate branches. Their young internodes are covered with white or silvery two-pointed hairs . The tile-like leaves are arranged opposite or alternating. They fall off around the anthesis . They are densely covered with two-pointed hair.

The flowers appear in groups of two or three. Your perigone is four to five lobed, the stamens are arranged alternately to the tepals. The capsule fruits are two- to fourfold.
