Pokrowska Bahatschka ( Ukrainian Покровська Багачка ; Russian Покровская Богачка Pokrovskaja Bogachka ) is a village in the Ukrainian Poltava Oblast with about 1050 inhabitants (2016).

In the village there is a two-story school, a kindergarten, a district hospital, a veterinarian, a pharmacy, a cultural center as well as a post office and, since 1998, a church again.

history

The village, founded in the early 17th century, was visited in 1845 by the Ukrainian national poet Taras Shevchenko , who was on his way from Lubny to Vesselyj Podil , and was later mentioned in his novel Twins ( Близнецы Blisnezy ).

The place was called Leninskoe between 1923 and 1926 and was the center of the Pokrovska Bahachansky district from 1923 to 1931 and from 1935 to 1957 . In 1971 the village had 1,486 inhabitants and in 2001 the number of inhabitants was 1,350.

Pokrowska Bahatschka is the administrative center of the rural community of the same name, founded in October 2015 and measuring 121.25 km², to which the villages of Beresnjaky ( Березняки , ) with about 650 inhabitants, Jerkiwzi ( Єрківці , ) with about 170 inhabitants, Zaporozhchyne ( Запорожчине , ) with about 70 inhabitants, Iwanzi ( Іванці , ) with about 5 inhabitants, Nastassiwka ( Настасівка , ) with 160 inhabitants and Tarassiwka ( Тарасівка , ) belong to about 420 residents.

Geographical location

The village is located in the forest-steppe zone in the north-west of Chorol Rajon at an altitude of 137  m on the bank of the Bahachka ( Багачка ), a 12 km long left tributary of the Sula . The district center of Khorol is 15 km southeast and the Oblast center Poltava 115 km southeast of Pokrovska Bahachka.

The M 03 / E 40 road runs through the village .
