The Polečnice , also Kájovský potok , Mlýnský potok , Hořický potok or Chvalšinský potok (German Blätterbach , in sections also Grundbach , Mühlbach , Höritzer Bach , Gojauer Bach ) is a left tributary of the Moldau / Vltava in the Czech Republic .

course

The stream has its source south of the Veselí desert ( cutting blow ) on the Boletice military training area . Its source is located on the southern foot of Příčník (961 m nm) and the Dřevíč (961 m nm) in the Bohemia foreshore associated Českokrumlovská vrchovina ( Krummenauer hills ). At its leading south upper reaches the Polečnice flows west of the Highlands (910 m nm) past the abandoned settlements Míšňany ( Meisetschlag ) and Javoří ( Michetschlag to Wüstung Mladoňov () Plattetschlag ), where it takes southeastern direction. Along its further course are the Bláto ( Benetschlag ), Polečnice ( Neustift ), Polná na Šumavě ( Stone in the Bohemian Forest ) and Lštín ( Irresdorf ) desert ; on this section the Polečnice is dammed on the hill Červený kopeček (797 m nm) in the ponds Horní polečnický rybník and Dolní polečnický rybník. Below Polná na Šumavě the brook winds in numerous meanders past the desert areas Horní Brzotice ( Perschetitz ) and Dolní Brzotice ( Böhmdorf ) initially to the northeast. Then it flows past the desert areas Hořičky ( Hörwitzl ), Svíba ( Schwiegrub ) and Kovářovice ( Schmieding ) in a southerly direction and leaves the military area. Subsequently, along the Polečnice, the villages of Provodice ( Probolden ), Drahoslavice ( Droschlowitz ), Stěžerov ( fishermen ), Mlýnské Údolí and Mýto ( Mauthstadt ) follow . On the northern outskirts of Hořice na Šumavě the brook turns to the northeast and flows past Šebanov ( Schöbersdorf ), Skláře ( Teutschmannsdorf ), Žestov ( Schestau ), Čertův Mlýn, Kladenské Rovné ( Ruben ), U Bugenů, Vaňkův Mlýn, Dumůn, Mezipotočí ( Nespoding ), Jezvinec, Novosedly ( Neusiedl ), Záhorkov ( Maple ), Kájov and Kladné ( Kladen ). From Křenovský Dvůr ( Krenauer Hof ) the Polečnice forms a deeply cut valley and leads in several river loops to Staré Dobrkovice ( Old Turkowitz ) and Nové Dobrkovice ( New Turkowitz ) east to Český Krumlov . The area of the Český Krumlov Castle extends south of the Polečnice on an elongated rock spur between the Polečnice and Moldau valleys . After 30 kilometers the Polečnice flows into Český Krumlov between the districts of Latrán ( Latron ) and Špičák ( Spitzenberg ) through a rock channel at Budějovická brána ( Budweiser Tor ) into the Vltava .

The largest tributary of the Polečnice is the Chvalšinský potok ( Kalschinger Bach ); The German name Blätterbach only refers to the lower course of the brook from the confluence of the Gojauer Bach and the Kalschinger Bach. The Polečnice is navigable on its lower reaches for a length of nine kilometers after the snow melts until May and after heavy rainfall.

Between the settlement Polečnice and Český Krumlov the railway line České Budějovice – Černý Kříž follows the brook; she bridged it three times at Polná na Šumavě, Svíba and Staré Dobrkovice.

history

To the north of the Český Krumlov Castle, in the Polečnice Valley, was the Krumlov Deer Garden. It was created at the time of the von Rosenbergs . After the animals drowned in the devastating summer floods of 1848, it was disbanded.

The original mouth of the Polečnice in the Vltava was about 100 meters north of the present one at Špičák. The deep rock channel in front of the Budweiser Tor in Latrán was artificially created in the course of the creation of the former deer garden pond as its drainage channel.

At Nové Dobrkovice in the Polečnice valley is the Dobrkovický Hamr ( Turkowitz Hammer ). The former hammer forge, which used to include a copper hammer, is protected as a technical monument . The Dobrkovická jeskyně or jeskyně U Hamru ( Turkowitz Cave ) is located on the slope above the Hammer . Down the river follow the water art of the castle garden and a former graphite mine, which today partially serves as a show mine.
