action

Within four days, a con artist stole two to three-digit amounts of money several times in Frankfurt an der Oder and Berlin . Sometimes she pretended to need money for coal or other bills, sometimes she stole from travelers on the train. The victims described her as around 30 years old. Another characteristic was a bag that can be assigned to the Zakopan arts and crafts. According to Captain Bechler, solving the case, which is assigned to Oberleutnant Peter Fuchs and Criminal Sergeant Lutz Subras, has top priority. Peter Fuchs knows the perpetrator's trick of stealing from travelers as they get off the train, from Hertha Tuch, who is serving a two-year prison sentence as a thief and is supposed to be released the next day. Hertha, however, cannot imagine that one of her fellow inmates could have taken over her scam.

Hertha is released the next day. Not only is her friend Klaus waiting for her in front of the prison, who regularly wrote her letters during her imprisonment and was there for her, but also Carla Siedmann - the trickster she was looking for. She shared the cell with Hertha for a while and is now giving her money to start over. Klaus is suspicious and rejects Carla. He would like to prevent any contact from Hertha to the sophisticated Carla, but Hertha refuses to take this step. When Carla wants to live with Hertha for two days, Klaus demonstratively moves out of the apartment for this time.

Carla cheats on her fellow human beings in various and ingenious ways. She always disguises herself with a wig, but constantly changes her appearance. She also regularly adapts her typeface to the circumstances, always has several stolen ID cards with her and can imitate different dialects. Larger stolen items as a valuable Kändler -Porzellanfigur she deposited in the locker of a train station. One day she made the acquaintance of Roland Wagner, who works at the Biological Institute and told her about international research trips. Both meet a second time and spend the night in the hotel. The next morning, Roland is not only missing his wallet, but also his work bag with numerous documents from the Biological Institute. Meanwhile, Carla poses as Comrade Trautwein of the institute and tries to steal valuable cameras and night vision devices from the press officer of a manufacturer of optical devices. Klaus is supposed to transport the goods that are supposedly needed for an expedition of the Biological Institute with his car, but Hertha refuses, who doesn't want anything to do with Carla's machinations. Still, she can't bring herself to throw Carla out of the apartment. Klaus intervenes and just wants to put Carla's suitcase in front of the door. The suitcase opens when Klaus fetches it from the cupboard, and various wigs as well as stolen ID cards and checks fall out. Klaus believes Hertha knew everything and leaves the apartment angry.

Hertha wants to take the suitcase to the police when Carla appears. She wanted to meet with press officer Mr. Engel in order to receive a planned advance payment for the alleged research trip, but he has long since contacted Peter Fuchs. When Carla saw both men come out of the office, she flees. She shows her true colors in front of Hertha and insults her when she sees Hertha with her suitcase. Hertha throws her out. Carla now needs money to be able to flee Berlin. She tries to sell the porcelain figurine, but has to leave her ID for the valuable piece so that she does not sell it. Instead, she replies to a newspaper advertisement from a china collector who turns out to be a police investigator. Carla is arrested, but denies everything to the police. In the meantime, Hertha has also appeared here and brought Carla's suitcase to the investigators. Peter Fuchs and Lutz Subras can now prove their actions to Carla. In addition, they called everyone who had been harmed by them to the police station. Carla initially reacts calmly when she faces the people. However, when Hertha enters the room and looks at her reproachfully, Carla asks to be allowed to leave the room.
