Wilhelm Groehl

Wilhelm Gröhl (born July 1, 1916 in Dolsthaida ; † December 21, 1985 in Kleinmachnow ) was a German actor and director .

Life

Wilhelm Paul Heinrich Gröhl (maiden name) had his first engagement after the drama school at the theater in Halle (Saale) . He then moved to the Brandenburger Theater as a dramaturge in order to subsequently play on stages in Hamburg-Harburg, Mannheim, The Hague and Berlin. After the end of the Second World War, Wilhelm Gröhl returned to Halle, where he worked as chief dramaturge at the State Theater from 1948. In 1950 he was appointed director of the Deutsche Volksbühne in Leipzig . He also worked in this function from 1952 to 1953 at the municipal theaters in Erfurt . From 1954 he was permanently engaged at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin . From 1954 Wilhelm Gröhl worked as an actor for DEFA and from 1956 also for television, for which he also worked as a director. From 1967 to 1982 Wilhelm Gröhl was in a large part of the 678 episodes produced in the popular Neumann radio play series , ringing twice on Radio DDR I as Mr Sommerlatte.
