The Lisa Murnau case is a German crime film by Helmut Krätzig from 1971. The television film was released as the first episode of the Polizeiruf 110 film series .

action

The postal worker Lisa Murnau is dejected during her night shift and comes to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The perpetrator stole around 70,000 marks from the safe. The investigators Oberleutnant Peter Fuchs and Lieutenant Vera Arndt find next to Lisa and the young Harry Wolter, who is drunk and has also been knocked down. He cannot remember what happened. Since he knew Lisa and no door to the post office was broken into, he is suspect, because Lisa must have let the perpetrator into the post office. The perpetrator's escape happened through the back door, in which the key is still inside. Harry accuses the baker Paul Retzlaff, who is married but, according to rumors, had an affair with Lisa.

Soon there are other admirers of the young woman who would have had motives for their act. Showman Proll flirted with Lisa at the counter a few days ago and was also looking for a buyer for his classic car. Proll turns out to be a fraudster who received a deposit on his car from several people and was only able to pay it off with this money. He disappears from the city with a circus and a car and is later caught by the police after he has chased the ghost train with Peter Fuchs and Vera Arndt. Even the honest post office clerk Albrecht, whom Lisa replaced on the shift, could have been interested in the money, as the car he had ordered is there and has to be paid for by him, otherwise the order will expire.

At the post office, a certain Rudi calls who wants to meet Lisa. Vera Arndt pretends to be Lisa's best friend on the phone and meets a little later with Rudi, who turns out to be Lisa's ex-husband. He wants to return to Lisa, regrets his earlier behavior and is shaken when he learns of her injuries. Meanwhile, the stolen money is found. Children discovered it while playing in a disused sewer pipe. Peter Fuchs has earthworks started not far from the pipe. They are supposed to lure the perpetrator to hide the money. After a few days, Rudi comes to the hiding place and is arrested. He confesses to the attack on Lisa, who reluctantly let him into the post office the night before. After an argument, he knocked her down and took the money to pay off personal debts. The drunk Harry knocked on the back door a little later to confess his love to Lisa again. Rudi knocked him down and fled through the back door.

Lisa comes to in the hospital and is on the mend. She confirms that Rudi knocked her down. As Peter Fuchs and Vera Arndt leave the hospital, Lisa's acquaintances and friends gradually come to visit the hospital, including post office man Albrecht, Paul Retzlaff and Harry Wolter.
