action

Actually, Peter Lommer wanted to drive with his wife Astrid and their daughter on the weekend in the car of the small family to Astrid's parents in the country. In the early morning, however, his friend Horst visits him, who absolutely wants to borrow Peter's car. He gives Peter 100 marks for it, and Peter agrees. Horst needs the car to make an impression during a sales talk with a village farm owner, even though he really has no money. The sales talk goes well at first, but gradually the farmer sees through Horst and finally rejects the sale. With charm and small rip-offs that already have the character of breach of trust and theft, Horst then once again gets old, more or less valuable items from a woman, which can be turned into money in the wake of the wave of nostalgia.

Astrid is not very pleased with her husband's friendly help. She now runs to her parents with Peter and the daughter. It becomes clear that Astrid and Peter owe their parents 5,000 marks because Peter bought a new car. Astrid pays small installments again and again, while Peter suffers from the debt. He wants more than what he has achieved so far, dreams of winning the lottery or a great inheritance and of a better apartment. The family currently lives in a small attic apartment in a winding old building with gallery access.

One day Horst offers Peter to participate in a supposedly certain crime. In a small town in Thuringia, it should be possible to rob the box office without any problems. According to Horst's investigations, both could steal 30,000 marks in the night in the deserted place. Horst is already planning the money for a farm where Peter and Astrid could also live. After a period of reflection, Peter agrees to participate in the planned crime. Horst got workers' suits and stocking masks. When the night box office was attacked at night, however, there was a fight. Peter reacts too late and finally knocks the man down. He falls on a curb and remains helpless at first. Peter and Horst flee in the victim's car, with a snow plow trying to block their way. During the evasive maneuver, Peter hits his head hard and sustains serious injuries. He's bleeding profusely when Horst carries him into his car. Once at home, Horst connects Peter and puts him in bed. He looks for the blame with Peter, who did not react properly.

The investigators, including Lieutenant Lutz Zimmermann, have now been able to secure numerous traces at the crime scene. They know that the passenger - Peter - must be very seriously injured, as they found traces of blood and bone fragments in the first getaway car. Finally, they can identify Horst using a fingerprint. They are waiting for him at his house and arrest him. For Peter, however, any help comes too late. He got out of bed dazed and collapsed shortly afterwards. The investigators can only determine his death upon arrival. Lutz Zimmermann brings Astrid, who was with her parents, the news of her husband's death.
