Polyana (Ukrainian and Russian Поляна ; Slovak Polana , Hungarian Polena ) is a place in Svaliava Raion in the Zakarpattia Oblast in western Ukraine .

On September 13, 2016, the village became the center of the newly established rural community Polyana (Полянська сільська громада / Poljanska silska hromada ) to this are also the eight villages Jakiwske (Яківське) Olenjowo , Pavlovo (Павлово) Ploské (Плоске) Ploskyj Potik (Плоский Потік), Rodynkiwka (Родниківка), Rodynkowa Huta (Родникова Гута) and Uklyn (Уклин), until then it formed the district council of the same name together with the village of Uklyn .

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1180 and is located in the Pynja Valley at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains.

Until 1919 the place belonged to the Empire Austria-Hungary or Hungary , afterwards as part of the Carpathian-Ukraine to Czechoslovakia . With the annexation he came back to Hungary in 1939–1945, from 1945 the place is part of the Soviet Union and since 1991 part of the Ukraine.

From 1971 to 1995 the place had the status of an urban-type settlement , but this was revoked on August 29, 1995.
