The Polski Związek Alpinizmu (PZA) ( German  Polish Mountaineering Federation ), is an organization of mountaineering, climbing and cave clubs in Poland . It has an association structure, whereby only associations are members.

The PZA was founded in 1974 from the Hochgebirgsverein (whose regional circles became independent PZA clubs) and several smaller clubs - including the PKG and newly established academic climbing clubs. The PZA unites 70 organizations, including 47 district clubs and 23 clubs and cave departments with a total of about 5300 people.

In the narrower sense, the PZA is a sports club that mainly works in the field of mountaineering . Its duties include training, education and dissemination activities, coordinating expeditions , organizing competitions in Poland and representing Poland in international competition. The PZA is also responsible for issuing climbing permits and own training permits.

The PZA also manages the central PZA training center "Bethlehem" in Hala Gąsienicowa in the High Tatras at 1510  m npm as well as a summer tent base in Szałasiska ( Morskie Oko ) and Polana Rogoźniczańska (below the outlet of the Kościeliska and Chochołowska valleys ). The Rąbaniska base was closed.

The PZA is a member of international climbing organizations (e.g. UIAA ) and speleological organizations (UIS) as well as a representative of Polish mountaineering in relations with foreign and international climbing organizations. As well as member of the EUMA since 2017 .

The PZA has published the information magazine "Taternik" since 1907, which is currently published quarterly, as well as smaller communications.

President

The presidents of the PZA are elected for three years by the General Delegate Assembly. Vice-president of the association was among others Piotr Morawski .
