The Portuguese-Central African relations describe the intergovernmental relationship between Portugal and the Central African Republic . The states have had direct diplomatic relations since 1977.

Relationships are unencumbered, but have not been intense for a long time. The most important reference point today is the Portuguese military presence in EU and UN peace missions in the country, some of which are under the leadership of Portugal.

In 2017, 9 Central African citizens were registered in Portugal, in 2008 10 Portuguese were registered as consular in the Central African Republic.

Even if the Portuguese were the first Europeans to settle in Africa from the 15th century, the Portuguese explorers did not penetrate into what is now the Central African Republic.

Only after the end of the colonial Estado Novo regime in Portugal with the Carnation Revolution in 1974 did the Central African Republic, which became independent from France in 1960, come closer to the now democratic Portugal. On February 15, 1977, they established direct diplomatic relations.

In 2016, Portugal exported goods worth EUR 0.332 million to the Central African Republic ( 2015 : 0.060 million; 2014 : 0.066 million; 2013 : 0.043 million; 2012 : 0.132 million), 50.5% of which were machines and Devices, 44.6% metal goods and 3.9% optical and precision devices.

During the same period, the Central African Republic delivered goods worth EUR 2.720 million to Portugal ( 2015 : 1.573 million; 2014 : 0.351 million; 2013 : 0.610 million; 2012 : 0.912 million), excluding wood.

This placed the Central African Republic in 190th place as a buyer and 123rd as a supplier for Portuguese foreign trade, while Portugal was in 17th place as a buyer and in 65th place as a supplier for Central African foreign trade.
