The 1902/03 season was the first season of the soccer league introduced in Mexico and was initially known as Primera Fuerza .

The Reforma Athletic Club football pitch was also the home ground of the British Club .
Both the RAC and BC football teams were
initiated by football pioneer Percy Clifford .

In the first season the teams only played against each other once. The Orizaba Athletic Club, whose home was furthest from Mexico City, received home rights for all games and was therefore the only team not to have to travel. She knew how to use her home advantage and went down as the first master in the history of Mexican football .

Season course

The first game took place on October 19, 1902 between the Mexico Cricket Club and the British Club and ended with 1: 5, making it the highest-scoring encounter of this first season with 6 goals. The last game played in the 1902/03 season was the match between the Orizaba Athletic Club and the Reforma Athletic Club on January 11, 1903 , which was decisive for the championship because it was the comparison between the only two undefeated teams and the winner was Championship would have decided in his favor. The game ended 2-2, which Orizaba had to win the last remaining game against the winless table bottom México Cricket Club to win the championship. The meeting between Orizaba AC and México CC, originally scheduled for November 2, 1902, was rescheduled for Sunday, February 1, 1903. On the Monday before the game, January 26, 1903, the team captain of the México Cricket Club, Richard Norman Penny, stated that he was unable to assemble eleven men for the trip to Orizaba. On Saturday, February 7th, 1903, a meeting took place on the premises of the British Club, in which the situation was discussed and the Orizaba Athletic Club was declared the winner of this game and thus champion. The failed match is taken into account in the final table with a victory for Orizaba and a defeat for México CC, whereby the goal difference achieved in the games actually played was retained.
