Liga Mayor 1942/43
The 1942/43 season of the Liga Mayor was the last season of the football league in Mexico , which originally started under the name Primera Fuerza , before the introduction of professional football , which ushered in a new era in the history of Mexican football in the 1943/44 season .
When comparing the last season on an amateur basis (1942/43) and the first season in professional football (1943/44), it is noticeable that the last champion of the amateur era ( Club Marte ) only finished the first professional season on the penultimate place in the table, during the Club Asturias won the first professional championship as bottom of the table in the 1942/43 season. The Club Necaxa completed its temporarily last season in an official tournament in the 1942/43 season because, according to the official reading, it initially rejected professional football and refused to compete in the new professional league . He later revised this decision and finally got into the professional league for the 1950/51 season .
The last game of the still operated on an amateur basis Liga Mayor contested on May 6, 1943, the teams of Selección Jalisco and Club Asturias, this game was played despite home rights of the national team from Guadalajara in Mexico City .
