The 1937/38 season was the seventh season of the Liga Mayor del Distrito Federal , which has had this name since 1931, as well as - taking into account that the competition was prematurely canceled in the 1930/31 season and is therefore not to be considered a regular league competition like the anniversary tournament Centenario 1921 - the 35th season of the soccer league introduced in Mexico, which initially operated under the name Primera Fuerza . While the competition was originally open to teams from all parts of the country, in the 20 years from 1920 to 1940 it was limited to clubs from Mexico City .

Champion for the fourth time after 1933 , 1935 and 1937 the club Necaxa , who in the 1930s the most successful football team presented Mexico and for its harmonious way of playing the nickname Los Once Hermanos ( span. For the eleven brothers received). In 1938, after ten years, Necaxa was also the first team to successfully defend the championship title they had won the previous season. Season course

After almost four years of abstinence, CD Marte, which dropped out at the end of the 1932/33 season, went back into the league at the beginning of the season . At first the season did not go well for the Marcianos , because it started with four defeats in a row. After a 1-0 win against Club América in their fifth game, a further defeat followed with a 2: 5 against CF Asturias , before Club Marte put in an impressive final phase with four wins in a row, which gave them third place at the end of the season bestowed. The start of this series was a 4-0 win against eventual champions Necaxa, who suffered the defeat insofar as he only finished second behind Club Asturias before his last game. In a direct encounter, however , the Necaxistas then prevailed with 5: 1 and successfully defended their championship title from the previous year.
