Liga Mayor 1940/41
The 1940/41 season of the Liga Mayor was the first season of the soccer league, originally introduced in Mexico under the name Primera Fuerza , which for the first time since the 1919/20 season or the 1921 special tournament called Campeonato del Centenario again teams from the was open throughout the country. Meanwhile, the league was limited to participants from Mexico City . Between 1902/03 and 1919/20 took part in the operation of the league outside of Mexico City alongside teams from the then independent suburbs of the capital, Churubusco and San Pedro de los Pinos , nor thePachuca Athletic Club from Pachuca de Soto (in all seasons) and the clubs Orizaba Athletic Club from Orizaba (seasons 1902/03 and 1903/04) and Club España from the port city of Veracruz (season 1918/19), which are based in the state of Veracruz . In the 1940/41 season, another club from Orizaba took part with the Unión Deportiva Moctezuma . In the same season, the Selección Jalisco also took part for the first time, a selection team formed from the best players from the clubs based in Guadalajara , all of whom took part in the Liga de Occidente . The other six teams were based in Mexico City and had already been represented in the league in previous seasons.
