The Prins Joachim was after the Dronning Ingrid the second ship in the series of intercity ferries . Today it bears the name Morocco Star .

history

The ship was laid down on August 22, 1979 at Nakskov Skibsværft A / S with shipyard number 223. The launch was on January 25, 1980. The ferry was christened on July 2, 1980 in the name of Joachim zu Denmark , the second son of the Danish Queen Margrethe II. The Danish State Railways (DSB) took over the ship on October 10, 1980 and use it on the Korsør - Nyborg line in the Great Belt . The home port was Korsør. From 1997, Prins Joachim belonged to Scandlines A / S and went out of service at the end of May 1997.

Until November 2000 it was on in Nakskov. After a renovation in Fredericia , it was used on the Scandlines Rostock - Gedser route on March 29, 2001 . From summer 2012 she sailed under the German flag with her home port Rostock. Their use on this route ended in May 2016. She was sold and renamed Prince (flag: Cyprus). After a conversion in Greece, she was briefly used for European Seaways between Italy and Greece. At the end of December 2016 it was sold again and renamed Morocco Star . After a further renovation in Greece and Malta, it has been in use for Africa Morocco Link under the Moroccan flag between Tanger-Med ( Morocco ) and Algeciras ( Spain ) since the end of March 2017 .
