The private brewery Friedrich Düll is a medium-sized brewery and produces beer and other beverages under the name Krautheimer . It is located in the parish village of Krautheim , a district of the Lower Franconian town of Volkach in the Kitzingen wine district .

history

The origin of the brewery goes back to the year 1654, when the Zollner von Halberg Krautheim family belonged to the Grafschaft Castell after the departure of the family . An entry in the municipal bills of 1654 says that Dieterich (founder of the brewery) made a payment of "11 Patzen because of the stones, if he bought from a community to build his brewery." This entry and a request from 1655 to the Counts of Castell confirm that the brewery was built and brewing started at that time.

In 1725 Johann Georg Großner from Neuses am Sand married the youngest daughter of Carl Christian Dietrich, landlord, brewer and village judge. Later the brewery passed into the hands of different owners:

  • Nicolaus Herbert, Michael Will (1815)
  • Friedrich Will (1822)
  • Michael Schneider (1868)

In 1881 Friedrich Düll, a brewer from Bimbach, came to Krautheim and married the widow of Michael Schneider.
In 1918 Friedrich Düll retired from active business and handed the brewery over to his son Michael Düll and his stepson Eduard Schneider in equal parts. He died in 1926. Eduard Schneider left the company in 1930 and Michael Düll became sole owner. He died in 1937 at the age of 52. His widow Anna continued the brewery until 1945.

The two brothers Hermann and Heinrich Düll ran the brewery from 1945 to 1990. From 1990 until Heinrich Düll's death in the spring of 2000, the company was run by him and his son Friedrich Düll. Friedrich Düll has been managing director and owner of the brewery together with his wife Martina Düll and their children since 2000. Until 2016, he was President of the Bavarian Brewers' Association for five years and after leaving this position was appointed Honorary President in May 2016 in recognition of his services.

particularities

  • The brewing water is drawn from its own well.
  • Malting barley and wheat are sourced from local farmers. The Düll brewery is the only brewery in Lower Franconia that malts its malt needs in its own malt house.
