The N.prior energy GmbH was founded in 1997 in Leer by Ingo de Buhr as North Prokon Energiesysteme GmbH founded. The group of companies planned and operated on- and offshore wind farms as well as biomass heating and substitute fuel power plants. In addition, it manufactured wind turbines and their components and operated a bioethanol plant. In 2010 the company was renamed and in October 2012 it went bankrupt.

history

Before founding Prokon Nord Energiesysteme GmbH , Ingo de Buhr was a founding partner of Prokon Energiesysteme (Itzehoe) . By pursuing different corporate goals with the shareholders, de Buhr left the company. Shortly thereafter, he founded Prokon Nord in Leer with a focus on onshore wind energy, later also offshore wind farms, thermal power stations and bioethanol production.

Due to the economic crisis of 2008 with the changing lending and investment practice, the resulting rising food prices and delays in the electrical connection of the offshore wind farms to the power grid, the group of companies had financing problems.

In October 2010 the former Prokon Nord was renamed N.prior energy. The step was taken to delimit and avoid confusion with the Prokon group of companies from Itzehoe.

On August 14, 2012, the court opened insolvency proceedings for the assets of the subsidiary PN Biomasseheizkraftwerk Emlichheim GmbH & Co KG .

On October 1, 2012, insolvency proceedings were opened against the assets of N.prior energy GmbH .

Holdings

N. prior energy has a 25 percent stake in Weener Energie GmbH & Co. KG in Lower Saxony . This company burns substances from the mechanical-biological treatment of municipal waste and commercial waste in the order of magnitude of 130,000 tons annually.

The wholly owned subsidiary PN Casting Technology GmbH in Stade produces cast parts for wind turbines.

Business areas

Onshore

By 2008, N.prior energy had installed a total of 96 onshore turbines. To date, 13 wind farms have been set up at several locations in Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt as well as in Bremerhaven , in Heldrungen in Thuringia , in Prenzlau in Brandenburg and in the Mecklenburg Lake District district .

Offshore

In 2001 Prokon Nord received the approval for the construction of the first German offshore wind farmBorkum West ” outside the 12 nautical mile zone , which is now called “ alpha ventus ”. Three further offshore wind farms are planned: “ Borkum West II ”, “MEG Offshore I”, both north of the island of Borkum, and “Côte d'Albâtre”, north of Normandy.

Biomass

In Emlichheim , Hamburg , Papenburg , Alkmaar (Netherlands) and Oostrozebeke (Belgium) biomass cogeneration plants were built. The power plants in Papenburg and Emlichheim were also operated directly by N.prior energy .

N.prior energy sold all of its shares in the Papenburg power plant in 2010. The current owner of the power plant is EEV BioEnergie GmbH & Co. KG. The power plant is "not affected by the insolvency of N.prior energy GmbH".

Prior energy operated a bioethanol plant in Stade through its subsidiary PN Bioethanol Elbewerk GmbH & Co. KG . There, 300,000 liters of bioethanol per day should be produced from around 270,000 t of wheat per year . Bran, gluten and feed yeast, which are used in the food and feed industry, were produced as by-products.
