The Prva liga SR Jugoslavije 1997/98 was the sixth season of the top division of the BR Yugoslavia . The game was played from August 19, 1997 to May 16, 1998. The defending champion was FK Partizan Belgrade .

Before the last matchday, promoted FK Obilić was one point ahead of FK Roter Stern Belgrade and ended the season 1-1 at FK Proleter Zrenjanin . Obilič received support from Red Star when they lost 2-1 in the long-distance duel with the second promoted FK Železnik .
