Pugieu is a village and a former French commune of 151 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ain in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belonged to the Belley arrondissement and the canton of the same name .

With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of Chazey-Bons and Pugieu were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Chazey-Bons of the same name , in which the former municipalities have the status of a Commune déléguée . The administrative headquarters are in Chazey-Bons.

Pugieu is about nine kilometers north-northwest of Belley in the Bugey countryside and on the Fugans River .
