The Puija ( Russian Пу́я ) is a left tributary of the Waga in the Arkhangelsk Oblast in northwestern Russia .
The Puija rises in the eastern foothills of the Njandoma heights . It flows through the two administrative districts of Wel and Schenkursk in an easterly direction. She later turns north. The M8 trunk road now runs along the eastern bank of the river. 9 km above the mouth, its most important tributary, the Sulanda , meets the Puija from the left. Finally the Puija flows into the left bank of the Waga at Aksjonowskaja .
The Puija has a length of 172 km. It drains an area of 2500 km². The Puija is mainly fed by the snowmelt . The mean runoff is 25 m² / s. The river is ice-covered between November and the second half of April / early May.
The puija was used for rafting at least earlier .
