Pump ( spelling : PUMP ) is a German hard rock band from Stuttgart . Pump toured with Axel Rudi Pell and Queensrÿche and played in the opening act for bands such as Dokken , Alice Cooper , Harem Scarem , UDO and Vengeance . The band has released three albums so far, the first two of which were directed by Tommy Newton .

history

Pump was founded in 2002 by the former brainstorm singer Marcus Jürgens. The guitarists Aki Reissmann, Ulli Hauff, bassist Stephan Bürk and drummer Achim Keller completed the group. The band made their first appearances as the opening act for US hard rock legends Dokken and Harem Scarem.

In 2004 Pump recorded their debut album Against Everyone's Advice , directed by Tommy Newton . A tour with Axel Rudi Pell followed. The follow-up album Breakdown to Breakthrough was created in 2006, also in collaboration with Tommy Newton. After the recordings, drummer Achim Keller left the band to change to Victory and was replaced by Markus Kullmann.

With the former Symphorce guitarist Stef Bertolla, Pump found a suitable successor for Ulli Hauff, who also left the band a year later. With the departure of Stephan Bürk (for professional reasons) and Markus Kullmann, who increasingly devoted his attention to Dezperadoz , the band was left without a rhythm section before the recordings for the planned third album in spring 2008.

The Stuttgart team found new comrades in bassist Micha Vetter and Andy Minich on drums. The recordings took place in this line-up in summer 2008. In collaboration with producer Uwe Lulis (Ex- Grave Digger / Rebellion ), twelve tracks were recorded in his Black Solaris Studios. Sonic Extasy was released on September 25, 2009 on the Fastball Music label and is distributed by Sony Music . This was followed by a tour with UFO and House of Lords on which the band presented their new work live.

In the spring of 2010, Marcel “Selly” Bernhardt became a permanent member of the band after he had already helped out as a tour guitarist at a few concerts. In the summer of 2010, Pump could also be seen at the Rock of Ages Festival alongside bands such as Gotthard , Foreigner , DAD and Golden Earring .

Since the beginning of 2012, Pump has been represented as management by Axel Wiesenauer from Rock N Growl Records . In March of the same year the band took part in the benefit festival Rock for one world alongside Freedom Call and Nitrogods .

For the fourth album, a total of 14 tracks were recorded between 2011 and 2012 in collaboration with producer and sound engineer Axel Heckert (including Brainstorm , Symphorce ). The album, originally entitled "Waiting for the Rapture", was scheduled to be released in early 2013. However, shortly after the recordings were finished in December 2012, singer Marcus Juergens surprisingly split up with Pump. The band then decided not to release the actually finished CD at this point in time.

With Oliver Weers from Denmark, Pump introduced their new husband at the microphone in February 2013. Weers is known in Denmark as a participant in the television show X Factor and has released two solo albums, on which Tommy Aldridge and Marco Mendoza ( Whitesnake , Thin Lizzy ) participated, among others . Oliver Weers is currently recording the new vocal tracks for the fourth Pump album in Copenhagen . The band is aiming for a release in late 2013.
