Tommy Aldridge
Tommy Aldridge (born August 15, 1950 in Jackson , Mississippi ) is an American hard rock - and heavy metal - drummer who became known through his work with many bands and artists. These include Black Oak Arkansas , the Pat Travers Band, Ozzy Osbourne , Gary Moore , Whitesnake , Ted Nugent and Thin Lizzy . He helped shape the development of the double bass game.
Career
Tommy Aldridge was born in Jackson , Mississippi and grew up in the nearby town of Pearl .
Aldrige joined the rising rock band Black Oak Arkansas around Jim Dandy Mangrum in the early 1970s and recorded nine albums with them between 1972 and 1976. From 1978 to 1981 he played in the Pat Travers Band of the Canadian blues rock guitarist of the same name . Eventually he was offered the drummer position at Ozzy Osbourne, which he also accepted because of the exceptional talent Randy Rhoads . Although he is named as a drummer on Diary of a Madman , Lee Kerslake played on the original version of the album. After Bark at the Moon , Sharon Osbourne fired Aldridge .
Aldridge also played for Gary Moore from 1981. In 1986 he started Project Driver with Rudy Sarzo , Tony MacAlpine and Rob Rock . Finally, in 1987, Aldridge and Rudy Sarzo accepted an offer from Whitesnake's David Coverdale . It was too late to play in 1987 , but it was on Slip of the Tongue (1989). In 1990 this occupation disbanded.
After Whitesnake, Aldridge played for Manic Eden (with Rudy Sarzo and Adrian Vandenberg ), Motörhead and Ted Nugent in the 1990s , but then returned to the band from 2002 to 2007. From 2007 to 2009, Aldridge toured with Thin Lizzy .
Aldridge plays Yamaha drums and used Paiste , but now has Zildjian cymbals.
