Punchline Studio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Punchline Studio ( spelling punchline studio ) is a German media production company based in Lahr / Black Forest . The production company operates primarily in the audio and film industries and has released multi-award-winning documentaries.

The enterprise

The company was founded in 2015 by the brothers Pirmin Styrnol and Maik Styrnol and at that time mainly worked in the audio sector. The Styrnol brothers had previously worked together on media productions. One of the brothers' first releases was the melodrama album "tenebra", which combined the voice of dubbing actor Pirmin Styrnol with the music of film music composer Maik Styrnol. As a result, the Punchline Studio produced several audio books and film music albums. Meanwhile, both Pirmin Styrnol and Maik Styrnol are also active as film directors.

Film production

In 2017, the Punchline Studio published their own cinema documentary for the first time together with the Bamberg journalist Till Mayer . The film Winter in Lviv premiered in October 2017 and has been included in the program at more than 20 international film festivals. Winter in Lviv received the Best Documentary award twice, and the associated multimedia donation project to save a Ukrainian social station was awarded the Coburg Media Prize. In 2018, the Punchline Studio also produced the documentary For a Smile ... with Till Mayer , which premiered at the Bamberg Short Film Festival that same year . In 2019, the company also started production of the concert film series Live in Concert , which was published in July of the same year on the streaming provider Amazon Prime Video . In the first 70-minute episode, the film team accompanied the German rock band OIL at a performance in the Lahr slaughterhouse.

Since the summer of 2018, the Punchline Studio has also been working on the cinema documentary Heart and Soul , which attracted wide media coverage long before its release. The film deals with the career of the former southern German rock band Scaramouche . The focus of the documentation is the question of success in the music business. Many current and former players in the music industry have their say in the documentary.

In January 2020, Punchline Studio produced all multimedia features for the Music & Stories tour of British rock bands Uriah Heep , Nazareth and Wishbone Ash . The Punchline Studio was responsible for the official tour trailer as well as for all feature films with The Sweet guitarist Andy Scott and the show opener.

synchronization

In addition to the production of documentaries, the Punchline Studio is also active in the synchronization of films and events. In 2019, the voice actor Pirmin Styrnol was the voice station at the final of the Miss Germany election in the Europapark Rust . In the summer of 2018, Styrnol's voice opened all public viewing events in Europapark as well as the election for the "Miss WM". For the Football World Cup 2018 in Russia , Pirmin Styrnol was the "Voice of the Football World Cup" and the station Voice for all broadcasts on ARD. Styrnol was off-speaker for the five-hour ARD documentary The Long World Cup Night and also worked as a voice-over spokesman for the ARD documentary Our Russia - A City Trip to the World Cup with Udo Lielischkies and Palina Rojinski . In January 2020 he was the trailer speaker and station voice for the Music & Stories tour of Uriah Heep , Nazareth , Wishbone Ash and Andy Scott .

Composition and mixing

Another mainstay of the company is film music. Composer Maik Styrnol is responsible for a large number of publications. He composed the music for the festival film Die Lage der Nation , which celebrated its German premiere at the Filmschau Baden-Württemberg in 2019 , and produced the soundtrack for the play " Around the World in Eighty Days ". He also composed music for various radio features for the cultural radio stations SWR2 and Ö1 as well as the Austrian radio format Momente des Sports . Also wrote Styrnol the music for the in-house film productions Winter in Lviv and for a smile ... . He has already released several EPs and singles. Maik Styrnol is also a trained audio engineer and works in the sound mixing of films and music productions. In 2020, Styrnol founded "Project United" as a music producer and brought together 70 musicians from ten countries in the song "Side By Side" during the corona pandemic. In its review on April 19, 2020, the public radio broadcaster SWR1 awarded the project the "Predicate: Particularly valuable", and the accompanying music video was broadcast on TV stations from all over Europe .
