The Qaraqaba ( Kazakh Қарақаба - "Black Kaba") is the right source river of the Kaba (also Habahe ) in Eastern Kazakhstan .
The Qaraqaba rises on the northern slope of the Southern Altai mountain range . It flows initially along the northern flank of the Southern Altai in a westerly direction. The Tarbaghatai ridge in the east of the Sarymsaqty Mountains runs between the Qaraqaba upper reaches and the Buchtarma, which also flows further north in a westerly direction . The Qaraqaba finally turns south and breaks through the mountains. It forms the demarcation between the Southern Altai in the east and Sarymsaqty in the west. It now flows in a south-easterly, later in an easterly direction through a basin landscape, in the center of which is the place Tösqajyn (Russian Тоскаин). The Markakol Lake is further to the west. The Arassanqaba , the most important tributary of the Qaraqaba, later meets the river on the left. The Qaraqaba then cuts through the mountains again and finally turns south. In the lower reaches of the Bogomojus flows into the river on the right. Finally the Qaraqaba reaches the border with the People's Republic of China , where it merges with the Aqqaba flowing in from the left to form the Kaba. The Qaraqaba has a length of 132 km. Its catchment area covers 3040 km².
