Qeqertaq [ qɜˈqɜtːɑq ] (from the old spelling K'eĸertaĸ ; also Qeqertarmiut ) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the Maniitsoq district in Qeqqata Kommunia .
location
Qeqertaq is located on a small island of the same name directly southeast of the island of Sermersuut (Hamborgerland) on the Ammaqqoq strait . Maniitsoq is 15 km south .
history
Qeqertaq was founded in 1917 by people who had moved from Maniitsoq. The living space belonged to the municipality of Sukkertoppen. In 1918 there were 13 residents in a single house. Among them were two hunters and a fisherman. They made their living from seal and bird hunting in winter and from catching salmon and reindeer in summer. In 1927 the living space was given up again.
