Rémi Panossian

Rémi Panossian (born March 7, 1983 in Montpellier ) is a French jazz pianist .

Live and act

Panossian began performing as a pianist in 1990. Under the impression of a Michel Petrucciani concert, he took a closer look at jazz . From 1998 he studied harmony , improvisation and jazz history in Montpellier . He has also performed with musicians such as Stéphane Kochoyan, Steve Coleman , Andy Milne , Christian Lavigne and Anthony Tidd. In summer 2000 he performed at the Jazz à Vienne festival .

After completing his music studies in Toulouse , where he obtained a diploma in music education and musicology, Panossian worked with his own formations. Between 2005 and 2008 he recorded his debut album No end… (Nocturne) with double bass player Julien Duthu , followed by Two , which was released in 2008 by Plus Loin Music / Harmonia Mundi. He is currently playing with his own trio; In early 2011 he released the album Add Fiction , on which the double bass player Maxime Delporte and the drummer Frédéric Petitprez participated. The trio is also expanded to include Nicole Johänntgen and Frederik Köster .

He performed at the Jazz à Vannes Festival in 2011 . Before that he also toured abroad, with performances at the "Jarasum Festival" in South Korea, at the "Jz Club" in Shanghai , at the "Taichung Jazz Festival" and at the International Jazz Festival in Taipei on Taiwan , at the Nanjing Jazz Festival in China, at “Onda Jazz” in Lisbon , at “Le Divan Orange” in Montréal . In France he was invited to the Jazz à Sète Festival , Jazz in Marciac , the Rhino Jazz Festival , Jazz à Foix , Jazz à Montauban and the “Musique d'Eté de la ville d' Epernay ”.

Prizes and awards

Panossian won the 2008 “Jeune Talent” trophy from the Académie du Jazz and was Lauréat of the “Jazz Primeur” program of Cultures France 2009.
