List of grape varieties

The Réselle grape variety is a white wine . It is a new breed from 1986 between 'Seyval Blanc' × 'Bacchus' from Switzerland and thus comes from the same breeding series as the ' Birstaler Muskat '. The breeder of this cross is Valentin Blattner from Soyhières in the canton of Jura . Because of the share of 'Seyval Blanc', 'Réselle' belongs to the “ family ” of hybrid vines . The vines in Switzerland are 1 hectare (as of 2013, source: Office fédéral de l'agriculture OFAG)

It is named after Réselle, a hamlet in the municipality of Soyhières.

Variety characteristics

The growth of the vine of 'Réselle' is strong and upright. The grapes are medium-sized and have loose berries. By the looseness of the dry berries quickly and are less susceptible to fungal diseases . The berries are yellow-green in color and usually round in shape. Depending on how it is grown , it results in a refreshing white summer wine with a fine grapefruit, lemon and blackcurrant taste, which does not deny a relationship to 'Müller-Thurgau'. The light wine, which rarely has more than 10.5 percent alcohol by volume, has a shelf life of two to three years.

The vines have a very good tolerance against Real and downy mildew , and good resistance to frost . It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting . In viticulture , this avoids the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield.
