Rio Icuna is a left tributary of the Río Chimoré , which in turn flows into the Río Ichilo , which flows into the Amazon via the Río Mamoré and the Rio Madeira . The river lies on the southern edge of the Serranía del Imajana , a mountain range in the Bolivian foothills in South America ; its entire length is in the Carrasco National Park, which has been under nature protection since 1991 ( Parque Nacional Carrasco ).

course

The entire length of the Rio Icuna flows through the province of Carrasco in the Departamento Cochabamba and flows into the Río Chimoré after a total of 25 kilometers. The river has its origin on the northern edge of the Siete Quebradas in the Municipio Pojo and flows north for the first eight kilometers. After the first four kilometers, the Icuna joins the Río Asna Mayu and then enters the Municipio Totora .

After the first eight kilometers, the river then swings to the east, passes the village of Icuna , the central town of the canton of Icuna , and after twenty kilometers re-enters the municipality of Pojo. After a total of twenty-five kilometers, the river then reaches the Río Chimoré, which flows here in a north-westerly direction.
