The Río Jujan is a 19 km long left tributary of the Río Babahoyo in western Ecuador in the provinces of Los Ríos and Guayas . Including the source river Río Los Amarillos , the river length is 112 km.

River course

The Río Jujan arises on the northeastern outskirts of Jujan at the confluence of the Río Los Amarillos (left) and Río Chilintomo (right). The Río Jujan meanders in a westerly direction through the Ecuadorian coastal lowlands. Numerous irrigation channels branch off from the river. The Estero Ñausa coming from the south meets the river at river kilometer 8.4 . At river kilometers 5.4 the Estero Las Canchas flows into the Río Jujan from the right. This finally flows into the Río Babahoyo, 47 km above its junction with the Río Daule to the Río Guayas .

Catchment area

The catchment area covers around 850 km². The catchment area is almost entirely in the coastal lowlands. Only the source river Río Chilintomo has its source in the Cordillera Occidental . The western flank of the Cordillera Occidental is drained by neighboring rivers.
