Communities Livitaca

The Río Livitaca is an approximately 60 km long left tributary of the Río Apurímac in the Cusco region in south-central Peru .

River course

The Río Livitaca rises in the Peruvian Western Cordillera , at an altitude of about 4600  m . The headwaters are 40 km northwest of the city of Yauri . The Río Livitaca flows in a northerly direction through the Andes highlands in the east of the province of Chumbivilcas . At river kilometer 24, the village of Livitaca is west of the river. In the lower 20 kilometers, the Río Livitaca forms the border to the western province of Paruro . The Río Livitaca finally flows into the Río Apurímac at an altitude of about 3000  m .

Catchment area and hydrology

The catchment area of the Río Livitaca covers an area of ​​around 755 km². It borders in the east and south on the upper reaches of the Río Apurímac and in the west and southwest on that of the Río Velille , a left tributary of the Río Apurímac.
