The Río Mosna is the 58 km long main source river of the Río Puchca in Peru . It flows through the province of Huari in the east of the administrative region Ancash . The Río Mosna drains an area of ​​about 1260 km².

River course

The headwaters of the Río Mosna are formed by the up to 5504  m high Nevados de Cajat in the extreme south of the Cordillera Blanca , a glaciated mountain ridge of the Peruvian Western Cordillera . The Río Mosna flows mainly in a northerly direction. It drains the east side of the Cordillera Blanca. It passes the municipalities of Chavín de Huántar and San Marcos . At river kilometer 4, the Río Rurichinchay meets the Río Mosna from the left. This joins 6 km south-southeast of the provincial capital Huari with the Río Huari coming from the north to the Río Puchca.
