Rüdiger Helmold Freiherr von Rosen (born June 21, 1943 on the Grocholin manor near Schubin ) is a German business economist and was a managing director of the Deutsches Aktieninstitut until June 2012 .

Life and education

After fleeing the province of Posen to the west, von Rosen lived in the Wetterau and graduated from high school in 1962 . He then completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Dresdner Bank in Frankfurt am Main from 1962 to 1964 . He completed his military service from 1964 to 1966 as a lieutenant in the reserve.

From 1966 to 1970 von Rosen studied business administration at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University with a focus on banking management.

Between 1970 and 1973 he worked at the Institute for Capital Market Research as an assistant to Professor Häuser and received his doctorate with the dissertation “The Central Capital Market Committee - a model of voluntary self-regulation by credit institutions”.

After a brief activity from 1973 to 1974 as an assistant to the management of the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Zusammenarbeit mbH", he moved to the Deutsche Bundesbank . From 1974 to 1986 he held various positions there. First he worked as an assistant to Otmar Emminger , and later for Karl Otto Pöhl . From 1980 he was head of the office of Bundesbank President Pöhl, from 1984 head of the main press and information department and Bundesbank director.

Between 1986 and 1992 he was the managing director of the Working Group of German Stock Exchanges. before he was spokesman of the board at Deutsche Börse AG from 1990 to 1994 .

From the beginning of 1995 to the end of June 2012 he was a managing board member of Deutsches Aktieninstitut e. V. .

Other activities and mandates

Von Rosen was a lecturer from 1992 to 2008 and is honorary professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University . He is also Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia and an honorary doctorate from the Slavic University of Kiev .

He is a member of the Supervisory Board of Aixtron SE , Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ICF Bank AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Paladin Asset Management Investment AG.

He is treasurer of the Society of Friends of the Alte Oper Frankfurt.

In the past, he was a member of the board of directors of the Society for Capital Market Research at Goethe University (1988 to 2017), chairman of the Foundation Dialogue of Generations, Düsseldorf (2003 to 2015), member of the supervisory board of PricewaterhouseCoopers AG (2002 to 2014), member of the Board of Trustees of the Museum of Modern Art, Frankfurt (1997 to 2008).

As a member of the Advisory Committee, he advises the Konrad Adenauer Program for European Policy Studies of the Chicago Council on Foreign Affairs, Chicago, and Brandeis University - International Business School, Boston.

In addition, von Rosen is extensively involved in voluntary work. Rüdiger von Rosen is founding president of the Lions Club Frankfurt Am Leonhardsbrunn and a member of the board of the Heussenstamm Foundation . He also supports the Friends of Meir Panim , an organization that helps children in Israel .

Since May 15, 2013 von Rosen has been President of the Frankfurt Society for Trade, Industry and Science ( Casino Society of 1802).

Awards

Rüdiger von Rosen was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 2007 , the plaque of honor of the City of Frankfurt am Main in 2010 , the Hessian Order of Merit in 2014 and the Latvian Cross of Merit in 2017 . He is an honorary citizen of the Greek city of Didymoticho .
