Růžička (Czech.) Or Ružička (sloak./kroat.) ˈRuːʒiʧka , German for Ruzicka , is a family name that is widespread in the Czech Republic , Slovakia and Croatia . It is the diminutive of Czech růže , sloak./kroat. ruže , dt. roses (in the plural).
In the states of the former Danube Monarchy or in Germany , the variations Ruzicka , Ruschitschka , Ruzitschka , Ruschitzka , Rusiczka , Rusitschka or similar occur. Accordingly, there are many different ways of pronunciation.
The feminine form of the family name Růžička is, as is common in the West Slavic languages, Růžičková ("Mrs. Růžička" means "paní Růžičková" in Czech).
