Štefan Ružička (born February 17, 1985 in Nitra , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Oceláři Třinec in the Czech extra league since January 2015 .

Career

Štefan Ružička began his career at the Slovak club MHK Nitra in the Slovak Extra League , before he was selected (drafted) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft as 81st in the third round by the Philadelphia Flyers .

For the 2003/04 season he then moved to North America and initially played for two years in the Ontario Hockey League with the Owen Sound Attack . After he was used in his first year in two games with the Philadelphia Phantoms , the farm team of the Philadelphia Flyers, in the American Hockey League , he signed a contract with the Phantoms before the 2005/06 season . The 2006/07 season he spent both with the Phantoms in the AHL and with the Flyers in the NHL, where he was used in a total of 40 games after already being used in the 2005/06 season.

For the 2008/09 season Ružička moved to HK Spartak Moscow , for whom he played in the Continental Hockey League until January 2013 , scoring 177 points in 267 KHL games. On January 23, 2013 HK Spartak Moscow gave Ružička to Salawat Julajew Ufa and received a compensation payment in return. For Ufa he scored 15 points scorer in 21 missions by the end of the season and was also part of the club's squad at the beginning of the following season before he was sent to Toros Neftekamsk in the Vysschaja Hockey League at the end of September . In mid-October 2013, the management of Salawat Julajew exchanged him for Tomáš Záborský from HK Awangard Omsk . For Omsk he scored 16 points in 28 main round games, but Omsk missed the play-offs and therefore took part in the Nadezhda Cup in 2014 . In the context of this competition Ružička flourished and was top scorer with 13 points from 10 games, top scorer and template provider of the competition, which Awangard Omsk also won. Then his contract expired.
