RAP Amsterdam

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

RAP is a former football club from Amsterdam in the Netherlands .

history

The association was founded on November 14, 1887 . The clubs RUN , Amstels and Progress , where cricket was played, formed a football club with their respective first letters, the RAP . In the season 1898 / 1899 the team won the first official Dutch championship . Before that, the Dutch championship had already been won four times in 1892 , 1894 , 1897 and 1898 , but this was not considered official until the 1898/1899 season. By winning the first Telegraafbeker , a cup competition, in 1899, the club also directly secured the first double in the Netherlands. In the years 1911 to 1914 , the club began to decline in sport. Things went just as badly in those years at the football club Volharding , also from Amsterdam. On September 5, 1914 , these two clubs merged to form the Volharding-RAP-Combinatie VRC , which, however, was again a club for cricket. The club currently exists under the name VRA and is seven-time Dutch champion in cricket.
