The BDeh 3/6 is an articulated railcar of the Rorschach-Heiden-Bergbahn ( RHB ), which today belongs to the Appenzeller Bahnen . The railcar is the RHB's first low-floor vehicle and was put into operation in 1998.

Technical

The railcar is a one-off production and was manufactured by Stadler in Bussnang . It has a two-part car body with a central Jakobs bogie . The car floor is only lowered between the bogies. The electrical part largely corresponds to the GTW 2/6 , whereby in contrast to the GTW no traction container is used, instead it is housed in the end of the railcar on the valley side. Each bogie has a drive axle on the valley side and a running axle on the mountain side, the adhesion drive is decoupled in gear operation. The vehicle is equipped with a wireless remote control, which allows the engineer, the vehicle also from allfällig battered Vorstellwagen out to use.

The vehicle reaches 70 kilometers per hour in adhesion mode. This relatively high speed can hardly be used, however, as the vehicles are only allowed to drive on the Rorschach Hafen – Rorschach-Heiden route due to the low-lying cogwheel drive. Only then are the train safety magnets lowered sufficiently. In cogwheel mode, the maximum speed is 35 kilometers per hour, and a load of 55 tons may be carried.
